To whom it may concern,

Kevin Devine was a man of great passion and integrity, exhibiting these very traits through his tireless efforts and successes in his role as Vice President of Operations with Brookfield Properties. Kevin’s humble beginnings all started in Bergen County, New Jersey, a place that molded him into the man we all respected and admired. At the tender age of 19, he began working as an Engineer within Local 94, learning the “nuts and bolts” of the trade. As time passed, Kevin, being the tenacious and driven individual he was, eventually moved on to a management position as Director of Engineering with Devon Properties in 1997.

His trajectory as an outstanding management talent blossomed into his next position as Director of Operations with Alfred Sanzari Enterprises followed by Equity Office Properties. 2007 marked the next chapter in Kevin’s personal and professional growth. His dream of moving to California had finally come to fruition when Kevin and his family made the journey from New York to California. It would be here where Kevin would find his next and final professional home in Brookfield Properties, where he functioned as the Vice President of Engineering to its fullest capacity. Kevin was crucial in overseeing the operations of several of Brookfield’s west coast properties, envisioning a better tomorrow for Brookfield’s continued growth and prosperity.

Kevin never lost sight of who he was at heart, and that was an Engineer. He exhibited a particular affinity for the Stationary Engineers as he believed them to represent the very foundation and fortitude of the very buildings our engineers serviced. Kevin Devine is survived by his lovely wife of 28 years, Peggy, three wonderful children, Meaghan, Kevin and Christopher, his father Patrick, brothers John and Dan, sisters Rose, Annie, Maureen, and Kathleen, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kevin was predeceased by his mother, Mary and brother-in-law Jim.

About Kevin Devine

Kevin Devine of Mission Viejo, formerly of Bergen County, NJ, passed away in a motorcycle accident on August 13, 2017. Kevin was Vice President, Operations at Brookfield Property Partners in Los Angeles. Prior to moving to California in 2007, he had spent almost his entire career working in building operations in Manhattan.

At the age of 19, he began working as an engineer in Local 94 where he learned the “nuts and bolts” of the buildings. He moved into the management side of the business when he became a Director of Engineering with Devon Properties in 1997. After Devon Properties, he continued to broaden his managerial experience as Director of Operations while working for Alfred Sanzari Enterprises and then Equity Office Properties.

It was in 2007, however, when his personal dream of moving to California with his wife and children was fulfilled and Brookfield Properties, Los Angeles became his professional home. In his ten years in Los Angeles, he not only helped oversee the operations of several of Brookfield’s West coast properties, but he also collaborated with the community to increase the implementation of sustainable building operation practices in the greater Los Angeles area.

Even as his position elevated in management, Kevin’s heart remained with his roots – the trades, in particular, the stationary engineers. He believed they were the backbone of every building and they had a special place in his kind and humble heart.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 28 years, Peggy, three children whom he adored, Meaghan, Kevin and Christopher, his father Patrick, brothers John and Dan, sisters Rose, Annie, Maureen, and Kathleen, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary and brother-in-law Jim.
